Courses and events

The Academia Raetica organizes transferable skills courses for all scientists from its member and partner institutions. Public events are aimed at everyone with an interest in science.

The Academia Raetica and its member institutions and partners organize exhibitions, excursions, conferences, lectures and workshops to publicize the results of research in the Grisons.

The Academia Raetica is the coordinator of the event series Science Café Graubünden (Wissenschaftscafé Graubünden), a format to promote dialogue between researchers and citizens. The Science Cafés are a national project of the Science et Cité Foundation and are part of the Science Cafés Switzerland. The organisers of the individual events in Graubünden are, in addition to the Academia Raetica, its members and other institutions associated with science in the canton of Graubünden. Sonderausstellung "immer wilder": Bildpaare erzählen vom Wandel im Schweizerischen Nationalpark

Parkpioniere, Forschende, Reisende, Berufsfotografen oder Parkwächter – sie alle haben
einen fantastischen Fundus an Fotografien in der über hundertjährigen Parkgeschichte hinterlassen. Einige Dutzend dieser Aufnahmen haben wir ausgewählt und in den letzten zwei Jahren an den exakt gleichen Standorten nachfotografiert. In einer Sonderausstellung im Schweizerischen Nationalpark Zentrum in Zernez werden anhand der Bildpaare von damals und heute gezeigt, wie sich die Landschaft während der letzten 111 Jahre verändert hat.

Every researcher working with empirical data needs a solid understanding of statistical data analysis. Yet, statistics is often taught in abstract ways, disconnected from real research questions. This hands-on online course bridges that gap by focusing on participants’ own data and projects.

Data visualization for scientists: preparing data for figures, posters, slides

Every scientist has to visually communicate scientific data. As figures in scientific manuscripts, slides in conference talks, posters and increasingly also as graphical abstracts, interactive visualizations, and in dashboards. Yet, the fundamentals for designing data visualizations for audiences are not part of the core undergraduate and graduate curriculum. In this workshop, participants learn to understand and prepare efficient scientific data visualizations.

50 Jahre Langzeit-Forschungsfläche Stillberg

Am Stillberg im Davoser Dischmatal erforscht das SLF, wie verschiedene Baumarten an der Waldgrenze mit sich ändernden Umweltbedingungen zurechtkommen und wie der Gebirgswald auch in Zukunft vor Naturgefahren wie Lawinen und Steinschlag schützt. 2025 feiert das SLF nun das 50-jährige Jubiläum der Aufforstung zusammen mit der Öffentlichkeit und Fachpublikum.

Der Nationalparkfilm von 1939

Der Nationalparkfilm von 1939 ist einer der Schätze in der Mediensammlung der Kantonsbibliothek Graubünden. Die erhaltenen Aufnahmen zeigen eindrückliche Sequenzen aus der Entwicklung des Nationalparks wie z.B. die «Naturschutz-Landsgemeinde» 1934 in Zernez. Der Stummfilm wird live vertont von Simon Quinn & Sprachlos-Kollektiv.

Von Drachen, grossen Mächten und Winzlingen

Die Seenplatte Macun zog die Menschen seit jeher in ihren Bann. Mit dafür verantwortlich ist die geheimnisvolle Legende des Drachen, der im Lai dal Dragun wohnt und dem auch heute noch Respekt gezollt wird. Vor 25 Jahren wurde dieses einzigartige Naturjuwel Teil des Schweizerischen Nationalparks und ist seither vor menschlichen Eingriffen geschützt. An dieser Buchvernissage gewähren Christopher Robinson und Stefanie Gubler faszinierende Einblicke in 25 Jahre Forschung auf Macun.

Communicating societal implications of research

This is a training workshop for live presentations that merges science communication with training tools from improvisational theatre. Designed for early-career researchers from a range of disciplines, the workshop focuses on the effective communication of the societal dimensions of research to diverse target audiences. Participants will develop strategies for making their research more accessible and socially responsive, with an emphasis on real-world application and interdisciplinary exchange.

Nationalpark-Botanik im Wandel

Seit 111 Jahren existiert der Schweizerische Nationalpark, und seit genauso langer Zeit wird im Parkgebiet die Pflanzenwelt erforscht. Raphael von Büren, Botaniker und Doktorand im Schweizerischen Nationalpark, lädt zu einer Zeitreise ein und zeigt mit historischen und aktuellen Fotos, wie sich seit der Parkgründung vor 111 Jahren sowohl die Pflanzenwelt als auch ihre Erforschung verändert haben.
